About Our Lender Panelists
Dave Fabian graduated from the University of South Florida and started his career as a CPA eventually becoming a Corporate Controller. He moonlit with Real Estate in his spare time and built up a small rental portfolio. In 2001 he got up to 13 rental properties and quit his job and became a full time landlord and house flipper for the next 20 years. Shortly after CoVid he and his wife liquidated their remaining 24 rental properties.
Since then they have been lending out their funds from 1 investor to another investor with no middleman. Investor loans are done in Florida and generally have a 1 year term, featuring no admin fees, appraisals, or prepayment penalties.
Paul Lewis is The Senior Vice President in charge of National Business Expansion for Asset Based Lending. He has been in real estate finance for over 20 years and has originated over $1.5 billion in real estate over his career, including several hundred million right here in Tampa over the last 8 years!
Asset Based Lending is a direct, private lender offering a myriad of products to accommodate both new and well seasoned real estate investors nationwide!
Jim Marks started originating loans around 1992 and has been self-employed since before then. After spending eight years as the Director of Outpatient services at Tampa General Hospital, it was time to move on to something new and very different. He started off as a real estate associate with Smith & Associates in Tampa when listings were distributed via a paperback book the size of a phone book. He took his first loan application on 3-part NCR paper, drove paper loan applications to underwriters and attended every closing.
He has owned or managed several real estate and mortgage companies, the largest being over 500 employees originating loans in 27 states. He has closed thousands of loans and has bought, rehabbed and sold well over 100 properties. In the early 2000s, when mortgage fraud was rampant, he consulted with both the FBI and FDLE, in particular regarding Matthew Cox. He has also taught dozens of classes on mortgages and is always willing to help both new and experienced investors.
With over 22 years in the mortgage industry, Erika Alves has built a reputation for turning financial challenges into opportunities. Specializing in creative financing solutions for self-employed buyers and real estate investors, she’s passionate about helping clients find the perfect path to homeownership and wealth-building, even when others say it can’t be done.
When she’s not structuring innovative loan strategies, she’s spending time with her two daughters, exploring new destinations, rooting for her team the Michigan Wolverines or enjoying another trip to Disney.

At 6:45 PM or so, we will be having the Haves & Wants Speed Marketing Session which gives our members the opportunity to quickly market deals they HAVE and to find deals they WANT. We also give our business members the opportunity to get up and say a few words about their businesses. Members who want to participate in the Haves & Wants Marketing Session must bring your flyers and get to the meeting early to get on our list of participants.
After the conclusion of the Tampa REIA Main Meeting (around 9:30PM), we will be reconvening at the World of Beer located at 5311 Avion Park Dr, Tampa, FL for the “Meeting After the Meeting” with Tampa REIA Crew.
